Suhariningsih

Suhariningsih is Professor of Biophysics at Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universitas Airlangga. Rin, her nickname, was born in Kediri on June 27, 1952. She has been into physics for a long time. However, when she had started to study at the Institute of Technology Sepuluh November, her interest was biophysics. It is interesting to know that after completing her undergraduate study in 1995 she took that of doctorate in Universitas Airlangga. It should be noted that she did not even take master program as what students usually do on regular level. The reason is that she had reached 220 credits in her undergraduate study, allowing her to study directly in doctoral program at that time. Few years later, in 2003, she was officially inaugurated as professor with a scientific oration about the paradigm of modern physics. One of the inventions that she developed is “akupotensiograf”, a tool used in medical therapy to diagnose diseased organ. The concept is taking an electrical frequency of the patient. This frequency is then returned to the body in the opposite form. In the field of teaching, she teaches a lot of courses. The courses include Basic Physics I, Medical Physics and Biophysics. Apart from academic life, she has a lot of contributions. She becomes members of various associations related to her expertise, such as Indonesian Physics Society.

She is fairly a senior in the association because she had joined the organization since 1979. In addition, she also joined several other organizations: Central Indonesian Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine Association (IPTAKI), and Center of Development and Implementation of Traditional Medicine (SP3T) Health Department of East Java. In terms of research and publications, Rin is a productive researcher. One of her works published in 2015 is Synthesis and Characterization of Hydroxyapatite Layer on Cobalt Alloys through Dip Coating Method as a Prosthetic Bone Implant Candidate. As for research experience, in 2015 she conducted research on Utilization of electrostimulator and laser instruments for medical applications. For her service in Universitas Airlangga, she received an award in the form of Satya Lancana Karya Satya (Civil Service Long Service Medal: 30 years of service) from the President in 2014. (*)
