Mochammad Yuwono

One of experts in Pharmaceutical Chemistry specialized in Pharmaceutical analysis in Universitas Airlangga is Mochammad Yuwono. He, the Director of Examination Service Unit in Faculty of Pharmacy, focuses on testing food, drug, and cosmetics. Materials consumed by human body needs to complete standards in several aspects, such as: its quality, security, benefits, and user’s necessity. In industry, Yuwono, a reviewer of community service in Kemeristek-DIKTI, believes that his area of expertise is certainly necessary, particularly in Quality Control and Research and Development Laboratory analysis method validation. Government needs experts in this field of study who later will occupy Indonesian Food and Drug Agency (BPOM). Thus, the man, who is reviewer of Chiang Mai Journal of Science, stated that job vacancy in this area is huge. Ability in Pharmaceutical analysis plays central role. All food, drug, and cosmetics manufactures require individuals who are able to assure its product quality. Even, the alumna of Wuerzburg University uttered that HRD in this industry often contact him to search for proper human resource reference. Meaning that graduates from Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR with such competencies are ‘sold’ in job world.

Yuwono’s expertise brought him to be an expert in Directorate of Therapeutic Product, BPOM, National Food and Drug Testing Center. Furthermore, he often talked in seminars or trainings related to testing of food, drug, and cosmetics in several regencies. In addition, he was invited by Ministry of Health as a speaker in many events. Besides supervising students in undergraduate, master, and doctoral program, Yuwono is active in doing community service. He received seven international awards in which two of them are from UNESCO and five of them are from DAAD. Additionally, he had many international publications. He published many works to apply his knowledge. Research should be conducted and written into articles.
