Ari Prasetyo

Ari Prasetyo is one of the faculty members of the Department of Islamic Economics of Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga. At present, the alumnus of Senior High School 9 Surabaya is assigned as the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Vocational Studies. In addition to being an expert in the field of economics and management, the faculty member living in Surabaya also bones up on Islamic studies. His expertise is in the field of Human Resource Management (SDM) and Islamic Leadership. Specifically, Ari calls this Insani Human Resources. The faculty member who is active in the Center for Islamic Economics and Business Resource Development UNAIR explained that in general Islam economics is quite promising. Moreover, in its development, this area produces diverse sub-fields. Each of the sub-field builds synergistic and complementary scientific insights as a unified branch of comprehensive Economics. When asked about leadership, Ari contended that the coverage of this area is very broad, ascribing not only to one religion. In Islam, the primary role, indeed, is the Prophet Muhammad as a leader in Islamic world. However, the leadership style of other figures, both Muslim and non-Muslims such as Hitler, Mussolini, until Saddam Hussein, is discussed. All of them then are compared to the criteria of an ideal leader. The Leadership model of Prophet Muhammad is also described in detail and seen not only from one aspect. For example, it is known from history that the Prophet Muhammad was democratic and yet authoritarian. It means that he was democratic in a number of conditions, and he was authoritarian in other situations. Islamic Leadership is not only about leadership at the state level. But it also applies to companies, institutions, even at the household level. This means that leadership applies to all elements of everyday life. In addition to teaching a number of subjects, Ari Prasetyo is an active member of organizations. He also frequently conducts research, scientific publications, and also community service. Ari also often gives training on the micro, small, and medium enterprises, because the sectors have a central role in economic growth in East Java. (*)
